SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 13 (KNO) : The Minister for Education Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari today undertook an extensive tour of Srinagar city to review the progress of various ongoing development works being executed at various places. The Minister was accompanied by Chief Executive Officer of Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA), Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone, District Development Commissioner, Srinagar, Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Director ERA, Kashmir, Satish Razdan, Chief Engineers of R&B and PHE and other concerned officials and contractors. On his visit to TRC Grade Separator, the Minister was informed that the major portion of work stands executed and that the work on shuttering is going on. The executing agency assured the Minister that the work will be completed by June 2018. He directed the concerned to expedite the pace of work for its timely completion so that commuters are benefited. Reviewing 105-metre New Mahjoor Bridge at Jawahar Nagar which is being constructed by J&K ERA, the Minister was informed that the bridge is near its completion and shall be completed within two months. The Minister announced that the bridge will be inaugurated in January 2018 and will be opened for the traffic movement which will bring huge relief to the people residing in Mehjoor Nagar, Jawahar Nagar, Raj Bagh, Padshahi Bagh, Lasjan and other adjoining areas. Bukhari was overall satisfied with the work being executed by ERA. On his visit to Rambagh, the Minister took the firsthand appraisal of the ongoing construction work on Jehangir Chowk-Rambagh flyover. The Minister directed the executing agency to expedite the speed of work and complete the work in a time bound manner. Bukhari said that government under the leadership of Mehbooba Mufti is keen to develop the Srinagar city on the modern lines. He said once completed the flyover will decongest traffic in the city and ease the movement of commuters and a large chunk of the population will get relief from regular traffic jams in the surrounding areas (KNO)
